  • What are your hours of operation?
We photograph from 9am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday. If you need a shoot outside of these hours, please call or email and we will do our best to accomodate your schedule.
  • Do your photographers have e-keys?
Yes, all of our photographers have Supra e-key access.
  • Do I have to be at the photoshoot?
Agents are not required to be at the photoshoot, so long as they provide access information so that the photographer can access the home. Of course, agents are welcome to attend the shoot if they'd like.
  • How long will the shoot take?
Generally speaking, our photographers can shoot a 3,000 square foot listing in an hour. The same listing would take an additional hour to complete a 3D tour. The time needed will increase with square footage. Shoot times vary widely depending on the size and accessibility of the home, the type and quantity of photo services we are providing, and the degree of preparation the listing has undergone prior to the shoot. Aerial photos require 15-45 minutes on-site, depending on acreage, tree coverage, and the accessibility of the property. If you would like a more exact estimate of a shoot duration for a specific listing, please feel free to reach out!
  • Is my listing in your area of operation?
Any listing that is more than 60 miles (round-trip) from our office in Minneapolis will incur a travel fee of $0.66 per additional mile. However, the round-trip limit is increased to 90 miles for a listing that orders $250 or more worth of services. The agent will be notified in advance if the listing is located outside of our radius. In most cases, we will not photograph a listing more than 150 miles round trip. Please reach out if you have questions regarding a specific listing.
  • Can I schedule a shoot for today?
If you need a shoot done ASAP, please call us and we will do our best to accomodate your schedule. However, we cannot guarantee that a photographer will be available in your area.
  • What if I need a shoot done on the weekend?
We require a $250 order minimum in order to send a photographer on a weekend shoot. Photos taken on a weekend will be delivered within 24 hours of the shoot.

  • How do I edit or remove the "FAQ title"?"
The FAQ title can be adjusted in the settings tab of the App Settings. You can also remove the title by unchecking its checkbox in the settings tab.
  • What is the best time of day to photograph my listing?
This depends on several factors, but generally the lighting is best when the sun is hitting the front of the property. For example, an east-facing listing would ideally be photographed in the morning. Please reach out if you would like lighting advice for a specific listing. We love talking photography!
  • What if the weather is less than ideal?
It's a common misconception that clear skies make for the best photos. In fact, overcast days create some of the best lighting opportunities. We will swap out the skies on all exteriors if the skies are excessively cloudy or gloomy. We do shoot in the snow and rain, provided conditions are safe to do so. Aerial photos will be rescheduled free of charge if wind, rain or snow necessitates.
  • Will the photographer move items/stage the home?
At Alto, we take pride in high quality photography at an affordable price. Please understand that in order to achieve this, we expect listings to be prepared for photography prior to the photographer's arrival. We work with all of our agents to come to an understanding of what that preparation entails. That said, our photographers are expected to make sure that certain essential items are taken care of prior to photographing a space. These items include lights, blinds/curtains, shoes, trash cans, toilet seats, garage doors, vehicles and pet items. Agents may request that the photographer move additional items, but we leave it up to the photographer to decide how much time they have to accomodate additional staging requests.
  • Will the photographer photograph amenities in condo?
For condos, we will photograph any on-site amenites for a listing at the request of the agent. However, the photographer will NOT photograph an amenity if it is being used by another resident (this is especially true for gyms and pools) or if they cannot get access. When ordering a shoot with many amenities, we strongly recommend that the agent attend the shoot so that they can work with the photographer to make sure each space is cleared of people and ready for photos.
  • What about off-site amenities and neighborhood attractions?
Due to the time required to travel and setup/stow equipment, we limit off-site amenities/attractions to one per shoot and will charge for additional amenities. For legal reasons, the photographer will not photograph an amenity if there is no angle that does not contain people. This is especially true for playgrounds and beaches where children may be present. As with all amenites, we strongly recommend that the agent attend the shoot so that they can work with the photographer to make sure each space is cleared of people and ready for photos. We are also working to build our neighborhood stock photo library. The photographer will notify the agent if we have available stock photos in their neighborhood.
  • Is drone photography legal in my area?
Drone flights are regulated by the FAA and will generally be limited or restricted in areas near airports. Aside from MSP, there are four smaller airports in the metro area. These airfields restrict drone availability in the following suburbs/neighborhoods: Blaine, Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Lake Nokomis, Robbinsdale, and Downtown St. Paul. Flights in these areas may still be possible, and there may be other areas that have temporary flight restrictions. If you have questions for a specific listing, please reach out. We offer a contact form on our aerials page and will respond with airspace viability within 24 hours.
  • Can I trust the photographer to fly the drone safely?
Yes. Safety is our first priority when conducting drone operations. Our drone photographer has hundreds of flight hours under his belt without a single accident, and his current drone model employs omnidirectional obstacle avoidance to further improve safety. The photographer will not fly if conditions are not safe. In addition, all drone operations are extensively insured, to protect homeowner property in the event of an accident.
  • Is my listing a good candidate for aerial media?
Aerial photos and video are perfect for properties that have notable water features, extensive acreage, beautiful curb appeal, well-planned landscaping, nearby attractions and other unique exterior features. For listings with extensive tree coverage, especially with foliage covering the front of the house, aerial content may not be as effective. Other factors to consider are proximity to neighbors and the amount of traffic in the area. We'd be happy to provide your listing with an honest grade for its aerial photo potential! Just reach out with the address and we'll let you know if we think aerials would be beneficial.
  • Can the photographer fly the drone indoors?
For liability reasons, we do not currently fly the drone indoors. However, we are looking into smaller FPV drone options that will allow us to safely create a unique indoor/outdoor aerial video product. Stay tuned!
  • How soon will I receive my photographs?
Photos are delivered via email within 24 hours of the shoot.
  • Can I get photos delivered on the same day as the shoot?
Please reach out via phone or email to see if we can accomodate same-day delivery.
  • Can the agent add their own photos to the virtual tour?

  • What if the photographer missed a shot that I want?
We do not deliver every shot that the photographer takes, so there is a chance that the missing photo can be pulled from the photographer's archive and delivered without requiring an additional shoot appointment. If an agent is looking for a photo that is outside the bounds of a typical real estate listing (eg. a close-up of the air conditioner), the agent must request that shot before or during the photo shoot.
