DECLUTTER AND CLEAN

Declutter and Clean

Stow away paperwork

Remove as much clutter as possible.

Stow unnecessary cables and hide the remaining cords and cables as best you can.

Empty the sink; stowing sponges

Clean dirty windows and screens. Dirty windows cannot be fixed in Photoshop.

Turn off and clean ceiling fans.

Clean bathroom mirrors.

Remove personal products from bathroom counters and bathtubs.

Bathroom towels and decorative hand soap can remain.

Store extra items in the garage and utility room (we usually won’t photograph these spaces).

Ensure all light bulbs within each space match (same brightness and color temperature); daylight bulbs are preferred but not necessary.

Turn on all lights and open all shades and curtains before the photographer arrives.

Remove personal pictures of family and friends; art is okay.

Remove kids' names from decor for privacy.

Clear the refrigerator of magnets and photos.

Hide any pet-related items (beds

Sweep or leaf-blow driveways.

Mow and leaf blow front and back yards.

Remove vehicles from driveways and do not park in front of the house.

Remove garden tools.

Hide garbage and recycling bins if possible.

Water the lawn regularly for at least two weeks before the shoot date.

Once the above items have been completed, you may consider completing the following:

Vucuum carpets and rugs.

Sweep and mop hardwood floors.

Dust necessary surfaces

Remove scuffs and dirt from walls.

Remove unnecessary nails and hooks from walls.

Consider adding decorative plants and flowers on tables and by the front door.

Consider freshening any mulch around the house.

Generally clean as needed.
